LAHORE: A passer-by was killed and seven persons including five police officials and two LDA officials were injured in firing incident during clashes with encroachers on Multan Road in Lahore.
Officials of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) accompanied by police personnel conducted a joint operation against encroachments on Multan Road area of Chung on Thursday, where the encroachers opened fire at the raiding the party, killing a passerby and injuring seven persons.
The body and the injured RDA were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital, while the SHO and the other inured were rushed to a local hospital. Doctors said that the injured were provided with treatment and they were out of danger. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
The injured were identified as SHO Nasir Chatta, police constables Imran, Saleem, Shakeel and lady constable Anam, while the identity of the two LDA injured officials could not ascertained.
The police evacuated a major section the state land from encroachers and arrested four persons including two women.
