The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday awarded the ticket for the Senate seat in Punjab to Seemi Ezdi, sister of senior party leader Jahangir Tareen, after the approval of party chief Imran Khan.
It is worth mentioning here that at least 11 PTI women, including Firdous Ashiq Awan, Nargis Jabeen, Nida Rehman, Rukhsana Bhatti, Sima Anwaar, Asma Badar, Noreen Farooqui, Irum Bukhari, Dr Zarqa and Sara Ahmed have submitted applications to contest the Senate election from Punjab.
However, the party found Seemi Ezdi suitable for the ticket to contest the polls on the said Senate seat to be held on November 15, 2018.
The seat had fallen vacant after the disqualification of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Sadia Abbasi.
