LAHORE: A district court on Sunday approved a one-day physical remand of Bism
illah Engineering CEO Shahid Shafiq in Ashiana Housing scandal.
On Saturday, NAB arrested the accused Shahid Shafiq, partner of the Bism
illah Engineering firm, for collaborating with several LDA officials to provide forged documents t
o obtain contract of the housing scheme.
According to the authorities, the consortium consisting of three firms namely Bism
illah Engineering Services, SPARCO Construction Company and China First Metallurgical Group illegally acquired the contract worth Rs 14 billion.
NAB also said th
at the three companies were presented as a consortium via help of forged docu
ments. It added th
at the accused was arrested after reports of him trying to flee the country surfaced.
