ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday said that ‘few’ resignations by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-L) legislators will not damage the party’s government, according to a private TV channel.
Addressing a ceremony in Narowal, the minister said that political opponents were busy in pulling government’s legs through different tactics, but the PML-N government will complete its tenure. He asserted that Pakistan does not need protests in the current situation but development. “The nation knows that these sit-ins are only being staged to hinder the progress of the country,” he said. “If the elections are conducted in 90 days after the expiry of the current tenure, no one can stop PML-N from victory. But a conspiracy is being hatched to bring a caretaker government for a longer period through which rigging could be made in the elections. But, I think it is not possible,” he said.
